Under general supervision and according to Midland Health Permian Cardiology policies and procedures, greets patients, prepares and collects completed necessary forms. Following established protocols of computer system, enters and updates patient/insurance data, schedules appointments, Collecting patient out-of-pocket amounts including copays, deductible, co-insurance, and any outstanding balance, processes payments, compiles Daily Journal and Deposit. Performs various clerical duties such as answering telephones, recording messages, preparing physician schedules, maintaining a “clean” work area. Orders appropriate office supplies, forms, and filing supplies following Midland Health Permian Cardiology purchasing procedures.


SHIFT & SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

 

 

RESPONSIBILITES AND AUTHORITIES:

A. Perform all duties in accordance with established policies and procedures
B. Conduct oneself in such a manner that is conducive with a professional office environment
C. Dress in such a manner that is conducive with a professional office environment
D. Maintain neat and well-ordered work environment
E. Assist in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
F. Accommodates the various changes in workload by maintaining a flexible personal schedule
G. Performs other duties as assigned

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:

A. Greets patients/customers in a positive and helpful manner, providing necessary forms for patient’s completion and signature, reviewing the same for accuracy, prepares daily appointments and input data into computer in readiness for visit. Requesting and verifying insurance information prior to patient’s visit.
B. Answers telephone calls, records messages for medical personnel, schedules patient appointments with revision of schedules for cancellations etc., keeping medical personnel aware of workload for the day.
C. Using the computer system prepares Encounter forms for each patient visit, enters data for billing the visit following Midland Health Permian Cardiology policies and procedures, collects payments for patient visits, and providing proper receipts.
D. Performs Daily Journals and Close for data entry and payments. Includes Daily Deposit and copies of required journals to Accounting Dept.
E. Maintains an adequate level of office supplies and necessary forms and order office supplies from Purchasing in order to facilitate a smooth department operation.
F. Performs various clerical duties such as photocopying forms, reports and patient information, typing letter, forms, and labels, mailing, and faxing forms following Midland Health Permian Cardiology protocols.
G. Extended and or Weekend hours may be required.
H. Maintain confidentiality according to Midland Health Permian Cardiology policies and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Post high school and /or previous public or medical experience preferred.

UNSUAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

A. Extended periods of sitting
B. Extensive data entry
C. Ability to work under stress
